CIUSSS EMPLOYEES’ PERSONAL AND BANKING INFORMATION EXPOSED THROUGH AN INTERNAL EXCEL FILE DISCLOSURE: A BREACH OF QUEBEC PRIVACY RIGHTS AND PUBLIC-BODY DATA PROTECTION OBLIGATIONS.
This class action seeks compensation for all current and former employees of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (CIUSSS) whose personal and/or financial information was contained in a payroll Excel file that was mistakenly shared with unauthorized internal staff between April 29, 2019 and December 11, 2025.

On January 19, 2026, the Plaintiff filed an Application for Authorization to Institute a Class Action and to be Appointed as Representative Plaintiff before the Superior Court of Québec. The class action seeks, among other remedies, moral and compensatory damages for stress, anxiety, inconvenience, loss of control over personal information, as well as punitive damages to sanction the privacy violation and prevent similar misconduct from happening again.
Eligibility criteria
You may be included in this class action if you meet the following criteria: You are a current or former employee of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. Your personal and/or financial information was contained in the payroll Excel file involved. You were affected by the confidentiality incident that occurred between April 29, 2019 and December 11, 2025.
